Renowned biophysicist Dr. Fritz Popp has
researched the effect light has on the body (basis of Colorpuncture):

“We know today that man is essentially a being of light. And the modern science of photobiology is presently proving this. In terms of healing…the implications are immense. We now know, for example, that light can initiate, or arrest, cascade-like reactions in the cells, and that genetic cellular damage can be virtually repaired, within hours, by faint beams of light.”

This research today in biophysics indicates that light is the language of the cells. Fritz Popp's research is ongoing in Europe as well as the United States, and his discovery that the cells of the body actually communicate with each other using small particles of light called photons gives rise to the idea that light is the language of the cells.

Wolfgang Lillge, M.D writes:

"In every individual, every second, approximately 10 million cells die, and must be replaced in a short period of time, in order to prevent an entropic decay. It cannot be predicted where and when a cell will die, but if the replacement rate were to be only slightly lower (or higher), the body would disintegrate quickly. . .

There must be an intimate coupling of cell-to-cell-communication, which, according to his calculations, can only be possible when the key control processes occur at the speed of light. Any other means of "information" transmission, including biomolecules, chemical messengers, and so forth, would not be sufficient. They would be too slow to guarantee the integrity of the organism. Already, from this simple calculation, it follows that light, or some electromagnetic action operating at the speed of light, must be involved in some form in the organization of living processes."

Colorpuncture Healing Method

Colorpuncture uses light with pure color on the acupuncture points, meridians, and other points particular to the Colorpuncture system, to effect healing in the cells and systems (endocrine, lymphatic, coordination system, etc) of the body. It is the name of the treatment that has arisen from the research of Peter Mandel. It uses Energy Emission analysis (Kirlian photography) for diagnosis. Kirlian photography enables the practitioner to record energy imbalances in the patterns of energy emitted by the patients fingers and toes. They are also used to measure the results of the Colorpuncture treatments.

Peter Mandel (below right) coined the term "esogetics" refering to his alternative health method, which is a combination of esoteric intuitive knowledge, with energetics, or the Western models of energy and biophysics to describe his basic tenets for Colorpuncture. Mandel refers to Man's "Program" - as in each man and woman's individual potential in life. This "Program" or potential must be intuited, sensed, understood, and finally manifested if Man is to be fulfilled. That fulfillment of his potential is done via the body and mind, and fuels the manifestation of health in the individual. Health therefore according to Mandel, is related to and dependent on this intuiting, and manifesting of potential, individual blue print. Dysfunction and dis-ease comes from not understanding, seeing, and manifesting potentials. In that way it is a completely holistic method.

The treatments come in many forms, from brain wave stimulation and balancing, to treatments in sound, to treatments in light. The light and color treatments involve the application of colored light to the skin with an instrument that resembles a simple pen light (left). (see light sets) In spite of its name it does not use needles or pierce the skin. Rather the color sensitivity of acupuncture receptors in the skin is used. Acupuncture meridians, among others, then channel healing information encoded in the light to targeted cells and dysfunctional organs where it is needed. "Color," says Mandel, "is life energy carrying information.... The information heals and the energy carries that information through the cells."
