"The Art of Movement and Stillness" Calligraphy
The calligraphy on our site (at the bottom of most pages) is Japanese in origin, and depicts the
concept of Movement which comes out of Stillness. One of the Eastern approaches to life is to see the paradoxes or extremes in life not as opposites, but rather as complimentaries, or
two parts of one spectrum. This reflects the understanding
that life is one whole, that things are actually connected and inter-related.
This approach engenders a sense of community in life, as inclusion of extremes is one of the basic necesseties
of any wholistic view. Thus, one calligraphy symbol can represent two seemingly opposite concepts.
"The Art of Movement and Stillness" is the basis for the approach to
design we take here at Sublime Dezine. Design is basically the movement or combination of different kinds of content in a way that is pleasing, creates a sense of clarity and focus. Our goal is to create design which comes from a center, imparts harmony, and serves the message that is there by being user friendly. When design comes out of stillness, it has an
intrinsic harmony which can be felt by the observer.
